I have now done 2000 miles on the clock after 10 days   The majority of the driving has been done on the motorway and I have accumulated the usual layer of dead flies and wasps on the front.. my headlights are stained red from blood and the bonnet is covered in fly/wasp goo that has hardened. I tried washing it off this morning and it is still there... I tried rubbing it off with a soft cotton cloth and noticed very very light scratches so stopped immediately...  ANYONE have an idea how I clean this off without damaging the paintwork . I had Autoglym lifeshine put on which I will NOT be doing again as my dealer told me that things like this will come off easily with the treatment - what a load of bull. I feel  at the moment.

Agree:
I would use a proprietary squashed bug remover, something which contains enzymes to break down the goo.
I personally never believed the claims for any paint protecting products. Â£300 will buy a lot of bug remover. However, I was under the impression that the Lifeshine products were guaranteed, whatever that means?
Plenty of softening with warm water and bug remover. I would avoid waxy shampoos as they seal over the problem before it can be removed IE make it worse. Obviously it can't be rushed, but it will come off.
What colour is your motor?

what i do is use very hot water and soap on a sponge, not luke warm but like inbetween luke warm and washing up water.
Comes off no probs

You need a very light ie watered down 10:1 TFR (traffic film remover - NON CAUSTIC) and a "bug" sponge.
TFR can be bought from any autoglym re-seller in a van!
You should try "autoglym interior cleaner" which is diluted TFR first.
As for the bug sponge only use the type with a "normal" sponge inside with the "holey" white fabric around it basically it wont scratch but the white fabric picks up your dead bits!
I'll post you a picture tomorrow of one!
You'll never guess... but I used to own a car detailing shop!

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions guys...

Here are your photos of "bug" sponge. As you can see the "net" catches the bugs as you wipe without being harsh to your paintwork.

After a week of not washing the car and collectling most of the insects in cumbria on my bonnet I gave the car a good wash with warm saopy water. After the wash there was no evidence of fly/wasp insides anywhere.
I got the Paint protection (£300 ) but it wasnt by autoglym it was by scotts. The stealer told me at the time that it to be better than autoglym and i thought that was just a sales ploy as I always use autoglym products and I wanted the autoglym lifeshine. At present the Scotts product is going good.
Either my Paint protection is really good or the flys/wasps are'nt as tough up here in cumbria

Or maybe I should have been doing 120 :embarassed:
