Title: Does size matter?
Post by: wolfrace on 03 December 2003, 17:29
Got a choice and can only afford the one set...ex brother in law has the following to offer. I have to make up my mind so he can stick the ones I dont want on his girlfriends golf.

BBS Splits 16" (expensive)
BBS 15" (original VR6 alloys - reasonably priced)

The 16" BBS splits look good - but I had a lot of problems with my last ones? But they do look great! But so do the BBS VR6 15" too?????

Also will that extra inch make all the diffrence do you think? ;)

I say this every time - go for the best ones, Mate. You will only regret not getting the Split rims 6 months down the line. Even if a bit of arch modding is needed, you still wont regret it once they are on.

If you get the 16s you wont need arch adjustments BUT the tyres are dearer than 17s!!! Also there is a fault on the vag 16 Anniversary type the laquer is not the best and WILL need refurbing which you will need to consider in the future. The 15 VR6 come in 2 styles, early had plastic centres and more dished spoke style, the later were all alloy no centre cap to unscrew (or get nicked!) and not being splits had no bolts.
You pays yer money and you takes your choice!!!!!
