Title: having problems with my alarm - please help!
Post by: jackm0908 on 05 May 2006, 10:27
i have a clifford alarm fitted to my golf (i'm not sure which type it is as it was installed by the prev owner) anyway its been giving me loads of hassle for a while and isn't working properly. when i try and lock the car remotely the passenger door button keeps popping up so i have to go and lock it manually with the key to keep the alarm activated. it works but obv is a right pain.

has anyone had a similar problem? how easy are aftermarket alarms to remove and can you then return the back to normal remote central locking.

any help appreciated.

Alarms are a pain, might be best to get a specialist to remove it.

Chances are though that its the door lock that's the problem, not the alarm. Quite common, and worth checking out. One way to test (although its not a sure-fire way of telling).. sit in the car with all the doors unlocked. Press the button on the drivers fingerplate to lock all the doors. If the pin goes down then pops back up then its your lock mechanism that's goosed.

i think its probably the lock mechanism based on that then...any suggestions for taking it apart/fixing/changing it completely, is this a common problem?
