Title: So whats it realistically worth??
Post by: paulm007 on 03 May 2006, 17:04
Hi, now I have looked at Parkers and Glass's guides and looked at Autotrader but the figures are all over the place, so the exam question is, what is my car realistically worth??

Its the one in my sig, spec's are:

53 plate,
GT TDI 130,
5 Door,
Black pearl,
sports pack (suspension, montreals - which are in my garage )
40 k on the clock
Full VW Service History
Excellent condition

Now my local stealer 'offered' me 9k part ex on an R32 (24K car!!!), told him he was having a laugh.

What could I expect to get private or part ex on a new 5 Door GTI??

Cheers

Not certain but perhaps around £9k in a private sale.

9k is about right maybe 500-800 less if you sell it private

dealers know they can get 9k plus cause then customers can use dealer facilities ie loans warranty etc

plus if you sell private not many people have 9k ish lying around

also the dealer wants to make at least 1k selling it on so realistically 10.000-10.500 is his mark up

Mk4's (especially the newer end) taking a real hit recently...

Have you braced yourself for the financial shock at the pumps going from TDi to R32
