Title: MK4 golf rear light
Post by: soulman_uk on 01 May 2006, 17:28
Evenin all,

My rear passenger side rear light is pooping slightly out of its place, e.g. if you push it in it bounces right back out only just noticed it to be honest, could've been light that when I bought it.

So going to see if there is a broken fitting on loose fitting, but knowing my luck anything plastic usually means busted to me.

So not going to be able to take a look at it untill the weekend. Just wondering how I take it off and what toold I will need ?

Any handy tips I need to to know before going in half hearted ? (is there a guide with nice pictures on how to do it anywhere ?)

If its busted can I buy just one (roughly how much if anyone knows?) or are they sold in pairs.

I thought I was problem free there but this cropped up, always something aint there with golf but you gotta love em'!

Cluster should just be held in with a few nuts prob 8 or 10mm then the whole thing should just pull out, and the board all the bulbs are fitted to are best picked up from a breakers.

just a couple of 10mm nuts hold it in m8y..they are a sod to get to mind you, just be really careful, and if its catching on something dont pull it... cos its another bolt holding it in...just keep looking/patient

(i pulled mine...and broke it..DOH!)

bit fidy but managed to get one from a scrap yard, for £8 picked up a few other bits and bobs so he knocked a few quid off which was nice of him, didnt even ask.

Managed to change it, not difficult to anyone about to do it, well at least the passenger rear one.

Basically what had happend is the plastic had broken on the inside where the bolts tighten up. Not sure how or why ... maybe it was over tightened when someone did it or ...

But another problem sorted.

Cheers for the help guys
