Car is going to the rolling road in the morning :-\.
Just got in from my garage, changing the oil, making sure that everything is ok. Hope it all holds together.
Will post how I get on.
Steve.

Good luck mate..
Hope everything works out okay :)

Rolling road results:
rpm bhp torque
2000 47 123
2500 68 143
3000 89 156
3500 100 150
4000 127 167
4500 145 169
5000 155 163
5500 170 162
6000 175 153
This is bhp and torque at the wheels, + 15% for engine figures. So around 200hp at the flywheel, and monster torque from 2000rpm, ;D.

Thats quite fast then :-*
-
what you got in there then?
-
I'm guessing it's a 16V turbo ;)
-
16v turbo 2000cc running 8psi of boost on optmax, all done by me from scrap yard parts ;D.
Will post soon when engine is run in and the boost is pusher up to 1bar :o. :-\

Steve.
What did you do to prep the engine to take such high boost? I am doing a turbo conversion to the original 8Vmk1 engine so any advice you could give me would be great m8.
-
golfvr6, yes it is v fast (when the wheels stop spinning ;D)
Rich, GTI international, what dates and where?.
Lewis, standard cams, lowered comp down to 8.75 to1 and some fuel inj mods.
I had a turbo on my 1800 8v eng, just fitted new big end shells, stripped, cleaned and rebuilt the head, stuck a diesel turbo exhaust manifold and turbo on and boosted it to 8psi with no engine mods. Set the timing and put a extra injector on for fuel on boost. Never dino'ed it, felt like around 150hp and lots of torque.
What are your plans?.
Steve.

How much did it cost u?
The engine run ok on a daily basis,no probs?
Dinky :-*
-
Parts were s/hand, cost me about ?200. Could be used as a daily driver as the engine is still standard. You will have to be good with the spanners and fabrication and a understanding of fuel injection to do it yourself. It isn't rocket science, but it is not as easy as people think it is ;).
Steve.

nah not rocket science done a few turbo technics xr3Is in me time so cant be that hard!!, hopefully sellin me 8v mk2 but when i get another 8v with pas may look into a bottom end (2.0) and then stiking a blower on, would be nice, cant be doing with playing with my mk4!!!
