Hey guys, first post on here. Excellent forum you got going on.
So i'm 20, male, from West Midlands UK, about to buy my first car, VW Golf MK3 SE 1.4 . It's white, with white bumpers n sides (you probs know the one) with a nice pioneer cd player and sub in the boot! Found it in the local paper for £995, N reg (1996) looks fantastic.
I couldn't test drive it on the day i went to look at it, because some big truck had blocked it in, but i'm going for a test drive Tuesday. Is there anything major I should look out for, appart from a spungy break, hard gears, hard clutch, clunks n what not ?
It's done 103,000 miles which i'm a little put off buy, but if you saw it, you wouldn't think its gone over 70,000. The engine is spotless, no rust on the car what so ever. Next to new inside.
Any advice much appreciated - Hope to post some pics up Tuesday if the test drive goes ok!

Arr captain....
ye be setting off on a slow and bumpy ride, get a GTI instead...
Much nicer drive than a 1.4: still a boat, but as mk2s are so disgusting...

If you jumped down to a 1.4 Mk2 you would cut that price in half.
All in preference though.. first car?
