Title: Random- VW polo advice!
Post by: speedy gonzales on 28 April 2006, 12:33
can anyone help?

I bought a w-reg polo (after selling my Mk2 Gti) but I have been welcomed with a new problem.

The dash shows that the handbrake is on (as the brake light is lit) and the ABS light is also lit.  Does that mean that my ABS has packed in or is it a sensor problem.  ANy one know any general VW electrical diagnostic Mechanic in the Essex area that is cheap for a diagnostic check?

What would you recommend I do? Shall I just take it to VW dealer?

Speedy (actually not so speedy with my 1.0 polo)

If the Handbrake light is on constantly it's probably just an issue with the sensor, or perhaps your brake fluid is low.
But if the ABS light is on, then there's probably more likely an issue with the ABS system, which will need somebody who knows how to diagnose problems on VWs.

Probably a sensor on both counts - my ABS sensor comes on if I have anyone sitting in the back

Best place to take it is JCB Skoda in Basildon 01268 288112 - cheaper than VW, and they have a fully equipped workshop for all VAG cars
