Title: Need quick sale for my Golf GTI- What price for quick sale?
Post by: Mark Thomas on 27 April 2006, 12:48
I need a quick sale for my Golf GTI. I have put it in the for sale section but it's not getting much response. I'd be happy to take around £4200-£4300.

Company car is being delivered next week!!!!!

Here's the car

As a trade in, I'd give between 2450 & 3300 depending on condition.

Well, I've now dropped it to £4150. I'll probably take just under £4,000.

I'd say £4000 aswell as turbos are starting there abouts. What are you replacing it with?

Well, getting a company car and buying a house. House is the main reason.

To be brutally honest., I'd say the colour is probably putting most people off. I would have said a met black or met silver of that age mileage conditon may command £3700 ish. I am sure at £3500 you may have a quickish sale. Have you advertised it properly yet? (Autotrader Ebay?)

Unfortunately the mk4 has taken a big hit recently..

Well I've dropped it down to £4000. I'm now on Ebay with one watcher at £3900. If it comes down to it'll drop the price again. Why has the mark 4 Golf taken a hit then, I've noticed it aswell when I've been looking through the Autotrader.

Mark,

I sold one too recently - so I know how you feel! I imagined it was worth about 2k more than it was

I expect it is mainly because they were at a premium for so long - now there seem to be so many around and they don't seem as special as they once did.

You'll sell it for whatever someone is prepared to pay (obvious I know) - but  someone may like the colour, appreciate the recent work done and think £4k+ is a good buy for them.

Yeh it's definitely depressing but I think Ebay should produce some results. It's frustrating.

I wouldnt put too much hope on ebay just because theres more risk bidding on something than all the test drive stuff. Is it in auto trader?

No I haven't put it in Autotrader as yet. That's my final option.

having bought and sold cars all over mate, your place of advertising will get you more coverage than you will in any paper/car mag trader etc....

sorry to say when you bought your car you bought a model that at the timke you thought was good, but now your wondering where your money went??

i had a 1.8 20v, 3 door in black, all the bits, full history, 1 owner etc etc plus i put a grands worth of coilover suspension, uprated anitroll bars and bushes and stuff, 17" audi s3 alloys with tyres, black badges allround and loads of other mods... id have taken £3k cash.... got a bit more, but that was with all that done...

good luck on your sale mate
