Title: Does mk2 have ABS?
Post by: 28Guy on 26 April 2006, 22:13
Hi there,

I'm new to the site and looking at buying a mk2 Golf GTI and was wondering if they had ABS or not? Maybe they were to early for ABS?

Also do they have CAT converters?

Done a couple of searchs but can't seem to get anywhere.

Thanks in advance & cool site btw!

I don't think I have ever seen a MK2 with ABS.... I might be wrong

However, I DO know that certain later MK2's did have a CAT but again, I am not sure if this was an optional extra

there were a few 'normal' MK2s with ABS, something like 50 or so were made.  Just try telling your delaer that though
Someone I know ended up telling them to phone VW in germany before they would believe him :)

Cats were also a rare optional extra, not common to see except in Germany.

Basically, the short answer is no it wont have ABS or a CAT ;)
