Title: Cam chain tension?

How tight is the cam chain on a valver supposed to be? I took my head off on saturday ready to send it off to be flowed and noticed that the cam chain was pretty dam loose and had plenty of travel on it. I recon i could probably move it up and down about 2cm's. I gonna order a new one anyway but just wondered.

Hi, The chain should be tighter than that, however there's not much point replacing the chain unless you replace the sprockets as well, the teeth on the sprockets normally wear just as much as the chain!  :smiley:

Im putting in new cams so yes the sprockets will be new too.
