Title: window wont go down help needed urgently.

hi guys for no apparent reason this afternoon my window just stopped working it was working fine this morning but now all it does is make a buzzing noise.

its strange.  pushing passenger side button the passenger window goes up and down, if i push the drivers side control for the passenger window it only goes up and not down?

and as for the drivers side this wont work at all, just makes a funny short buzz noise for about a second when pushing button up and down.

ive pulled  the door card off and fiddled about but nothing has improved. what i did find out was if i unplug the large slide clip/plug  from the bottom of the window motor (driver side) the drivers side control for the passenger window works(up&down) but when pluggged back in it stops working and only does the window up (passenger side)

my mate has had to renew the window motor on 2 of his previous golfs and he reckons its my window motor but i dont want to pull it all out if it is not the window motor.

can anyone advise me on what to do or what to look for,  when i push the button i can hear like a clicking noise from a relay but i cant find the realy as it sounds like its in the middle of the dash.  i hope i havent confused people by all this passenger drivers side nonsense.  i  just bullet point it.

driver side, switch no operation
driver side, passenger switch up only
passenger side switch up and down
(drivers motor unpluged) driver side passenger switch up and down

ANY CLUES PLEASE HELP GOOD WEATHER ON THE WAY AND I CANT SWEALTER IN THE CAR WITH MY WINDOW NOT OPEN AND NOT SHARING MY TUNES :embarassed:

mine just went at the weekend!!! is this a common issue? it worked one day and then just stopped! if anyone has any advice on this i would be very intrested. mine doesnt buzz it just makes a small click when you press the button.

for anyone reading this, i stripped the window apart to check the motor when my mate came over and advised i checked the earth wire running from the door into the car, so i removed the black rubber and found the thick earth wire had snapped.  simply just connected it back up and heypresto window was like new.


so before removing the window and door card etc ALLWAYS juat check the earth, it takes 2 minutes.
