Title: rattling noise!!

weve had a rattling noise on the car since weve had it and always just turn the stereo up to solve the problem, now its getting worse! when u boot it and especially when ur changing gear u get a horrible rattly vibratioin as the revs drop, anybody know what it is? exhaust heat shield seems solid enuff but it really sounds horrid, any help appreciated ;-)

sounds like heat shield, doesnt it come in 4 parts or something?
mine started oh so quiet and then got louder and louder and louder.
i can see the first little punk bit in the engine bay behind the block sat on top of the down pipe.
just a thought....

i took the other 3 off and the front is on solid and doesnt move at all, i was wondering if theirs a rattle in the engine somehwhere ?

I had the same thing, was told it was the heat shield on the manifold from a garrage but after replacing the whole manifold from a VW main dealer the rattle was still there so I had one of the guys from VW come out with me and he found it was............Wait for it.......a rear wheel bearing...it shocked me a small thing made that much rattle noise.

nah mine rattles when the revs are dropping, its defo coming from the front, going take of the heat shield anyway tomorow, it doesnt have to be on does it? also in the rocker cover theres a black plate that site in their and im thinking could iot be that as its just dropped on it doesnt bolt in etc..
