Title: Best Oil for running in Mark V GTI
Post by: virage1 on 19 April 2006, 22:20
Apologies if this has been discussed before, but I am wondering what oil I should use to top up the GTI whilst in the running in period (well I am nearly at 1,000 miles but I am ignoring the manual and going to run it in properly until about 1,500 miles). In the manual I can't find reference to specific oil types (but I may be being dumb ). Thanks

I know mine came out of the factory with long life oil in it..the dealer gave me a litre of this stuff as well, incase I needed to top up....plus you can always get topped up for free until the first service (I've done 12k miles and still not there yet)...I wouldnt add normal oil to the long life stuff...dont imagine it would mix very well...best as your dealer

My car came with stickers under the bonnet saying VW recommend Castrol Longlife.  So that what it'll be for me
