Lay the rear wiper flat and leave it as it is. That is possibly the mintest mk2 tornado red i have ever seen, to do anything else to it would ruin it.

personally id get a set of original 16v half tint rear lights, change the mirror covers back to the original black

apart from that there aint much else its that immaculate!! though you are missing the sound deading that goes on the underside of the bonnet (if your fussy like i am!)

tornado red polished up is still the best colour for the mk2's - dont let anyone tell you different! its just needs a lot more tlc to stop it going pink!!

Predictable I know, but I prefer RMs to the RAs.

Thanks for the replies guys, I'm well chuffed now! :grin:

@Slick#13,

Thanks. Yeah thinkin of doin the old lay flat wiper thing. Wonder why VW put it at that angle?  Must be a reason?

@Mk2GTi2.016v

No worries mate, cost me £1500 with 117k on the clock. It had the bottom end rebuilt in 2003 I think after big end went, reground crank, new oil pump, new bearings, new free wheeling pulley etc. etc. etc. Judging from your username I'd say you've got a 2.0. Did you do it yourself? It's probably the one thing I'm planning on doing. Gone from a 6cyl 3 series Beemer and miss the low down pull.

@jv,

Thanks. Yeah that's definately something I'd like to do. Where can I get crystal spots from please? The bulbs and wiring have been uprated for all the lights. On full beam it's like daylight!

@Gambit,

Cheers. When I bought it it was in good nick but I've spent a good few hours on the old polishing. Wibgs and doors were a little discoloured but several coats of polish later they are getting closer to the same colour. Gonna use that Meguairs clay bar stuff on it. Supposed to be the nuts.

@A7UFO,

What are RMs? Are they the proper "wire baskety" ones? If so, me too.

@ Mr Veedub8v,

LOL. Yeah I know what you mean.

It's nice to come on a forum where people are quite friendly, pleasant and dare I say it, "normal" LOL. The BMW forums are a nightmare. Everyone's so goddamn serious and up their own chuff.

Thanks again

thats beemer drivers for you lol.........

welcome

the only other thing i would consider is going back to the original half tint rear lights (the black/red split ones? cos i think they would look beeter with the black red paint and bumper and trim going on already. just personal opinion tho

I'll echo comments made really, lovely car, sounds like a bargain for that price  :smiley:

Definitely change the rear lights to Hella half tints (do not go for crappy do it yourself tint ones  :sick: )

You can get crystal inner spotlights from http://www.venommotorsport.com/shop/index.html

if it was me, black red clusters, a black grill badge, chrome door handle trims and the correct front & rear 16v badges.  I'd also go back to standard front lights and fit a mint set of spotlamps too with the proper hella stickers on, thats it :)

Recon you got a bargain there....  :smiley:

What about a single wiper conversion  :grin:  JOKE!

Cheers

Knobby.

I know what you are saying re the rear clusters, but I kind of like the clear ones better with it having clear front and sides too.

Thanks for the link on the inner spots. Gonna get some asap.

Re the black grille badge it actually came with one and I swapped it for chrome as the rear badge was red and I replaced that with a chrome one and wanted them to match. Are chrome badges "not the done thing?". As for the badges, I prefer the badgeless "sleeper" effect. I actually took the 16v badges off as I'd rather it look like an 8v for the surprise factor.

Seen the single wiper conversions advertised. My mum used to have a single wiper on her 1982 Scirocco GTi years ago. Are they a bit of a "Max Power" mod then?

I'm planning to get a 9a bottom end fairly soon and then maybe go for a DIY turbo conversion next year. I've got a lot of experience with modded turbo engines from my Subaru days and my mate is currently building a turbo Corrado 16v.

£1500!!!!!!! BARGAIN OF THE CENTURY!

Your on the right track going for a 9a bottom end. As for the turbo conversion, nice one! Keep us all updated. Might be worth starting a project section.

Looks very nice mate. If you like the lighter rear end why not have a look at some m3 crystals for the back?

As for "the done thing", that really should be whatever you think looks good, after all, its your car and you who's gonna be driving it!!

How about an engine swap?  I have a nice 1.6 cl engine that would do you wonders

Want a bodykit?  I have a nice pearl-rust 4 door kit that would match.

Some nice steelies? I got just the thing on my driveway that would suit the other kit you are dying to have now I have mentioned that its available.

Its just my opinion but I think you ought to just sign over the new keepers paperwork to me and I will throw the other stuff in for nothing along with whatever else is sat on my driveway.  Bargain

LOL. I'll give it some thought and let you know.

Update: I've taken the first bit of advoce and got some crystal spots. Fitted them Friday. They look the don's. Well chuffed thanks.

Got them from Venom. Very impressed with the product and the delivery.
