i have a golf 8v gti on a k plate that cuts out when it warms up ? I have replaced the oxygen sensor coil fuel pump relay and the ECU relay running out of ideas fast can anyone help? :-[
-
What do ya mean cuts out? won't idle or just stops running altogether?
-
the car will idle fine all the time but when you press the throtle it just wants to cut out ! It doesnt quite stop but sounds like its not getting enough fuel and if i press the throtle really fast it will splutter and back fire. and once someone stopped and said i had sparks fly out the exhuast and the cat was glowing bright red !!! :-\
-
just to add someone sugested the cat could be blocking up! is this a possibility?

Over fuelling? check airflow meter and oxygen sensor. Get the exhaust checked for co content.
-
will try this sounds like a good idea ! Has any one got a air flow meter for sale as they are silly money !!!
-
just in case can the fuel pump relay and ECU relay be put in the wrong place !! perhaps i have replayced the wrong ones !!!
-
ive heard people sugest the hall sender in the dizzy can this be replaced and how much ? im still trying to get a air flow meter second hand but might have to bit the bullet and buy a new one !!!

i have the same problem as you i have an 8v gti it mis fires on accelerating and theer jut seems to be lack of power, im ahving the throttl body air and pump washed , basically carb cleaned, as this is what someone has suggested and its not hard to do and costs jus the money for cleaning products and a bit of time. also having the idle sensor body done. try it and tell me how you get on i have heard this suggestion many times in the forums.

i have now relaced the air flow meter and still no luck !!
Ihave replaced the relays as sugested and noticed tha if i pull relay no:30 position 3 out the engine still keeps running !! so is that the ECU relay or the fuel pump relay ? and is that normal ?
