Title: Bilstein streetline kit
Post by: sKrEwBaLL on 29 November 2003, 23:49
I just bought a bilstein streetline kit for my mk2 (eurocarparts ?200).  Are these any good?  It comes with Ventura springs which I havent heard of...  are these any good or are they a bit sh!t?

Cheers

Ventura springs are sold by euro car parts and I would doubt they are any good. Bilstein on the other hand are excellent so I would be inclined to f**k those springs off and get a good set.

A bit too much like having champagne and drinking it from a polystyrene cup for my liking.

watch the sales and you can usually find a set of Eibach springs for 50 quid or a bit more

Thats what I thought.  I'll keep my eyes peeled for some decent springs.

Cheers

the shocks are good but i dont think the springs are up to much. ive got the kit on my car. was a cheap option to lower it. get new springs and it could be really good.

the general comfort aint that great IMO but the handlin is sooo much better (even better with 15's on the car). you do feel a lot of the bumps but i havent been in another mk2 which has been lowered so not really got anythin to compare it with. i have heard and read that the shocks are meant to be good and the springs duff.

As I work for Euro Car Parts, I would like to say that There is nothing wrong with Ventura springs, We sell these for all the make we do, and in the 3 years or so we have sold them, I have never had a problem, and I am not just saying that.

I have the exact same kit on my mk2 gti which i bought a year ago, i needed shocks for mot and ended up buying the kit from euro.
as with mk2driva the comfort aint great as you feel most bumps, but the handling is sh!t hot, it is lowered by 40mm but it doesnt make you look like a kev, worth a go if budget is slim
