Am still considering having a 2.0 bottom end in light of the fact I seem to have ring wear. I'm wondering how much heavier the bigger lump is than a standard 1.8 16V one. Is the weight significant enough to affect ride height/spring settings or are we talking 10kg or something silly?? Thanks.

will not affect handling or ride height at all.
-
is it heavier though?
-
not noticeably, the stroke is increased by the crank being slightly more angled, about it really, certainly won't cause any major upsets to the balance of the car.
-
Good to know, thanks. Just wondered if anyone has the figures though -- to work out power to weight, etc. What do we reckon, an extra 50kg??
-
have a check what an mk3 engine weighs, will give you a rough idea.

i got amk3 2ltr conversion in my 8v would have thought the weight difference would be the same as a 16v?? made no difference to mine drives like the day i got her except shes alot quicker!lol
-
its not gonna be anywhere near 50kg difference  i would have thought the blocks weigh the same, maybe theres a bit of difference inside
-
well i huess slightly different weights in the pistons/crank and thats about it
