Just heard my gti (dbp, 18", centre arm rest, cruise, rcd500) is due to be built week 19 (week commencing 8th May) and it will take 3 to 5 weeks to get to the dealership (hoping it's 3). Is a space saver spare wheel supplied? A friend recently took delivery of his from a supermarket in Hull and he got a can of tyre foam instead of a spare wheel.
I would think once you have used the foam, the tyre is thrown, so it's a new tyre every time you get a puncture!

I got a space saver in my 2006 model Gti - delivered in DEC '05

I have a spacesaver too...and according to the volkswagen website they all should have proper steel spacesavers..I'd go back to that supermarket and ask for my wheel

Space saver supplied with my 1/04/06 car.

Never fit a space saver to a front wheel.
-
if you use tyre foam, you can only go 30mph tops anyhow.
space saver is the better way to go, although they are only good for 50mph.

Imports generally come with foam and inflator kit (like mine). Does anyone know where I can buy a space saver steel wheel kit for my mk V GTI. I have tried vw to no avail. Doc can you help?

I got a normal good old steel wheel with a 225/45 on it!

Thanks M Man, does it fit in the wheel space in the boot, where did you get it from?

VW will be able to get the parts.
Will you will need the full kit i.e. foam holder and jack etc?
Failing that my R32 is due for a chop soon...
