My work mate, hes 39 and drives a Land Rover Discovery TDI. Its got 150 Bhp and its the older version (99 V plate)... so its a tractor.

He reckons he can get a chip that'll send him from stand still to 60 in UNDER 9 secs!!!

HAHAHA

also, 30 - 80 would be around 8secs.

... he then said he could beat mt 8v GTI with this chip and with his STANDARD LAND ROVER DIESEL said he could still beat me!!

HAHAHAHA

... Yeah IN A FIELD MAYBE!!

no way! have you heard those crap land rover engines...grrrrrr grrrrr grrrr crap Diesel!

u will win as the land rover was desinged for off road use.

Yeah well... hes dead cert on him winning... I think its just a dig at me... being so young with a fast (ish) car... and everyone else either is old or has an MG haha

I think there is a tuning company for Land rover called Bullfinch, or something similar, their cars are lethal!! seen one outpace, and out handle a porsche!!

a Mate at work has a 97 Disco on a P reg. 2.5 liter TDI engine sounds like a hand full of bolts in a soup tin but it sure is something off road. I wouldn't mind having a defender 90 to go play in the mud with. :)

Yes, but can his Land Rover be turned into "that" with ?600?  ... no.

he says it only costs ?600 for this space age chip thing and an "all powerfull" intercooler.

the "Space age" and "all powerfull" are what "I" call them, not him. lol

Made from space age polymer plastic! it slices , it dices, makes thousands of julian fries!  ;D time to go to sleep now in a bit of a weird mood i guess. sorry all.

@ Adam B - I think that tuning company is called 'Oberfinch' - they tested one of their range rovers on Top Gear quite a while ago... :o

We've got a TD5 Landy at work and it really shifts up to 50 mph - it's so low geared.  Great fun - surprises a lot of people - but it's too noisy to drive at 60+ for any length of time - keeps giving me headaches!!!!

It'll piss on TDis - still nothing to worry a GTi though.

I remember doing some PR work for the Air force about 10 years ago, and got given a V8 landy for a week, fully armoured up, and fast as hell. Got permission from the old Bill to drive it anywhere I wanted, when moving between places, because of the weapons - straight through the Shopping Precinct!!!! OAP's and Rugrats fleeing for their lives!
