Title: Lowering spring kits ?
Post by: Uruk Hai on 15 April 2006, 21:35
I'm thinking of getting some new springs for my 91 8V as the old girl appears to be leaning a bit (suspected weak spring), I would like to lower it but only about 20 - 30 mm. Can anyone recommend some good value spring kits or should I just get new shocks and springs in one go and does any drop in ride height have bad effects on tyre wear or handling. Any advice appreciated thanks !

I got a secondhand set of gmax 35mm ones that lower my 8v by a true 15mm.  Ride is not bad considering gmax are a cheap kit anyway, it does bottom out occasionally but seriously bumpy roads and its on 17's.  Cornering is great!  not got any feedback on tyres for you just yet!

Will that lower my G.T.I by 40mm or is that figure compared to a standard model ride height ?

Personally, my set up works great as a budget buy....I am running Elbach springs on Boge shocks.....drop might be a bit severe for you though

I want to lower it but not so much that it badly effects the camber, I appreciate that any lowering is likely to have an adverse effect on tyre wear but I still want them to last as long as possible  :undecided:
