just picked up my mkIII from the repair garage hoping (in vain) that the swimming pool in the rear passenger footwell had vanished. (front footwell less deep - more like a paddling pool). I'm told there aren't any holes in the floor.
But the chap reckoned that without removing the trim and front seat he wouldn't be able to pinpoint exactly where the leak was coming from.
Does anyone know of any obvious problems with water leaks that i could check out please? and what is a drip tray?

Often due to blocked drainage / air vents. Check the air vents are clear under the bonnet (at the back, just under the windscreen). May need to remove a bit of the trim to reach them. Leaks are also caused by sunroof's on many cars. The sunroof channels water into odd places and floods the car. Not sure if that's any use?

If the door seals are worn, water may be coming in from there. and ending up in the foot wells. This happened to my sisters car, changed the door seals now its sorted. Get someone to stay inside the car while you clean it with a jet wash. spray the water around the door area, the person inside the car should see if water is seeping through. If this does'nt work you will have a clean car - cant be bad
