Title: Tinted glass.

Not had me 8v for long, but something i didnt notice when i bought the car is the drivers window isnt tinted, where as the rest of the windows are.
Is there just one shade of tint or does it vary depending on car colour?
Where is the best place to get a replacement?
Is it an easy diy job to change it?
It' s doing my head in just knowing it's odd !!!! :angry: :angry:

Post by: [han] on 15 April 2006, 18:46: the glass on my car is a .1 tint, there are different gradients as far as i am aware, theres normally number in the little bit of etched information, usually near reg number on glass to tell you if it is tinted! hope it helps... :kiss:

In fact most Drivers I see have green tint glass, but many 8v GTIs have clear :rolleyes:

Post by: DavidGTi on 16 April 2006, 18:03: I have 'gangsta' tints all round on my Golf...not overly keen on it myself, thus far its avoiding the attention of the Police...but I'm probably going to take 'em out soon and swap them for some standard tinted glass I have.

I think you could get blue tint as well, possibly on the edition one?
You could even get a chromalux rear screen without the spoiler holes, now THAT is rare!

To tell the colour hold it up to the light, it becomes obvious then.

yep seen the 'tinted' wording on the glass, so it could be green or blue? My car is a dark metallic blue.

Post by: rubjonny on 20 April 2006, 18:59: Almost always will be green, blue is pretty rare and I'm not sure it was ever standard. I have seen some blue tint windscreens on the bay though.
