I am currently having a problem, i have got my car to a height that i think looks nice, but my O/S CV joint is catching on the inner arch, is there any way in stopping this without grinding out the inner arch or has anyone come across this problem before
-
I forgot to say its lowered 105mm on 15's, with avo coilovers
-
That sounds LOW
-
a visit from the angle grinder should sort it ;D
-
:o your car sounds 2Low4AFatHoe :o
Angle grinder. make sure you cover the metal work up after
-
yep sounds like a grinder job to me, must be mega low to rub cv joints, mind you mines quite low and makes a 'rub' noise, will have to look into it as mine aint catchin any arches etc!!
-
its still abit dangerous isnt it? ???

Thats what i thought mate, how can that happen? can you post a pic please.

I didnt think the CV joint could be rubbing as they are either attached close to the gearbox or the hub. You would have to move the gearbox to make them rub.
I think its more like the driveshafts are rubbing the inner arch and with a drop of 105mm I am not suprised. The torque steer effect from that must be immense and I would be suprised if your CV joints last that long as the angle of the shaft affects the way on which the force operates on the joint.
how much of an angle up do the driveshafts have?

Surely you can't drop a golf by that much? good luck at your next MOT ;)
-
there was one dropped 130mm in the golf a couple years back.

The driveshafts are on about a 30 degree rise and catch the arch roughly in the middle. It just kind of looks like its been machined a bit now
