Title: Flashing temp gauge
Post by: Deefadog on 13 April 2006, 16:46
Is the light on the temp gauge for the water temp?

As i just fitted a new temp sender and the gauge was working fine sitting half way, but every time i revved the engine with the accelerator the light would flash, if i pulled the choke out and revved it that way the light did not flash?

Any ideas?

Cheers

the light is either a temperature warning, or a level sensor warning.  Though I suspect if you have a choke, you dont have an in-tank coolant level sensor?

No mate, no in-tank coolant level sensor

was it a genuine temp sensor, or a pattern part?

I know their blue temp senders arnt any good!
Got any mates with a VW that you can pinch their sensor to test?  Or any good scrappies close by?

as long as its a black 2 pin sender they're all the same :)

These senders are the single types and are all brass! I'll try them on it and see if that helps

Thanks

Ah, the 16v ones should work in that case :)
