Title: Recommended drop on 18" ??

hello all, I've got 18" RS6 alloys on my golf which I'm very happy with, next I'm getting it lowered to make it look the part. What is the recommended drop on 18" wheels?? I'm only looking at replacing the springs really and the brands all seem very similar in terms of marketing and price, so i don't know which to buy. I've heard that cars with bigger wheels shouldn't be lowered as much as those with smaller rims? is this true? and does the ride quality really suffer at the expense of the car looking better??

Basically the the bigger the wheel the smaller the tyre profile you get which reduces the damping from the tyre so you start putting more stress on suspension. The lower you go with suspension the less flexibility in the whole system so ride can get pretty harsh. With the mk4 if you go lower than 40mm i think you need new ARB's to avoid catching on driveshafts. Eibach springs would usually be recommended by most for a comfortable ride cheapest i seen them for is £95 from venom with a 30-35mm drop. I would personally go for a matched dampers as well like konis i have heard the new fsds or something like that are highly rated. Reason being factory dampers dont do much after about 60k.

my mk4 has been lowered on 40mm springs with standered shocks on 18's mate check my sig!
