Got flashed tonight driving through Windsor (not sure which road it was). I have been flashed before and never heard anything about it. What is the chances of you actually getting a ticket if you get flashed? Incidentally, the camera only flashed once. Would this make a difference....? ???
Cheers

apperently the old trick of not signing the ticket still works, my mate just got away with it

Surely that ol chestnut doesnt still work? ???

Well normally on the older style cameras if there is only one flash it indicates that the camera either has no film in or the film has ran out.
Modern cameras (digital) only flash once now due to the sensor systems automatically indicating the cars speed and the shot is just taken for reference with the cars speed printed underneath (or to the side) depending whether its a Gatso or Serco camera.
Sorry folks, working for Serco I found out this information about 6 months ago.
Dunno about you peeps, but the area around Dorset/Hampshire has suddenly sprung loads of the bloody things all over the place :(
I have heard that the ones painted in bright flourescent colours are government owned and the none painted ones are owned by the local council. Either way they still suck big time :(

I've been flashed nuff times was doing 90 alnog quiet road and never got ticket.
Therapy (let me know wat u think) :

I think one flash is a caution and 2 flashes are a fine.
more than 60mph in a 30mph zone = 6 points >:(
-
If the Cam flashes twice you looking at 3 points and think ?60 fine on a a road, m road 5 points and up to ?1000 fine... If it flashes once you a very lucky boy indeed.... This means the camera "IS" in the casing but has run out of film, which means you will not be getting a ticket...... you lucky boy, just please remember that camera next time your racing in that area...... ???

If you ever get flashed once then its no worries as the camera has to flash twice so that your speed can be measured from the marks on the road and this is used to confirm that the radar of the gatso has been set correctly and is indeed admissable as evidence in court.
Cameras cost big bucks for a police force to buy and run and a lot of them that you see are just flashing boxes to make you slow down. This is set to change now that the revenue earned is allowed to be ploughed back into cameras instead of going in the governments pocket.
With digital cameras and hard drives being installed in gatsos the days of hoping the film has run out will soon be over.
Also the not signing the form to get away with it doesn't actually work in blighty, and you can get nicked for perverting the course of justice by doing it. We are part of the EU and all the other countires have the right to remain silent, we dont, we have the right to incriminate ourselves by filling out the NIP.
Also whenever you get flashed write the date and time down and if you dont get the NIP (Notice of Intended Prosecution) within 14 days of said offence then its null and void. Which means the old bill cant do sh!t.

Cheers for that, maybe I will get away with it!

I think you'll be OK.......I got gatso'd earlier this year and it was definately 2 flashes......3 points and ?60. >:(
-
What speed were you doing?
-
41 in a 30 at 3am in the morning..........roads were empty and I was on my way home from work so somewhat tired :(
-
That just takes the piss >:(
-
Thats fixed camera's for you............whats more annoying is I've always know the camera is there (Sunningdale), I was just bimbling along with my concentration miles away from the road. Whats more, I usually take the M3 home, took the A30 that evening for a change of scenery >:(
That just takes the piss >:(

Anyone heard of the new cameras what NEVER run out of film?-Specs.They r geet small as well, size of a cctv,so u don't notice them, and thus get caught?!Its in the news of the world the day!
How to beat em!:-
1,Check the alleged speed and time of the offence, the police can make mistakes!
2,If ur summond for a serious speeding offence caught on camera,u may hav grounds for appeal if u didn receive the notification within 14 days.
3,If u hav only nudged over the limit by a few mph.ask 2 c a calibration certificate for the machine that caught u.Gatsos must b checked annullay.
4,If u decide 2 fight,ask 2 c the police evidence.Cops r not allowed 2 produce photocopies or digitally enhanced photographs.
Dinky :-*
