Title: Won't idle or start when hot
Post by: Jim on 12 April 2006, 21:50
This has propbably been asked before but..

I put a manual choke converted pierburg 2e2 carb on my Golf Driver 1.6, cus the old one was playing up. Everythings works fine when it's cold, runs sweet as nut.
As soon as it's upto temperature it won' idle, cuts out then won't start again. But i can quite happily thrash it about when its at temp without a problem, just as long as i don't let it idle.

I've racked my brains and can't figure out why it's doing it. THe fact that it goes like stink suggests its not losing compression, and i've had a look in the carb and everything seems ok in there. The idle cut off valve and all that gub associated with the auto choke has been removed, should that of been left on i wonder? Or should i of wired something up somewhere because there are wires left over from the autochoke bits?

Anyone any ideas??
