i'm gutted and need consoling!
i've just found out the insurance company i'm with on my driver wo't insure me on a cab! so i'll have to lose a years no claims or wait til december til i renew! to get insured!
i still haven't got money from insurance yet either, but when it comes through i guess i've got longer to wait unti i can get one! but i'm looking at august when they'll next payout!
maybe 2007 is the year of the cab for me!
-
What did they say when you asked them about changing cars ?
I know a lot of places will refuse to give people a new quote on higher risk cars, but if you simply change the policy they ask for more money and let you get on with it. Happened to me when i first bought my 1.8T.
-
i was looking into changing cars, i told them money wasnt an option, but its something to do with engine size, and them being classed as a "sports car" due to being convertible, my age also doesn't help!
topher.. i was expecting a bashing!
-
from me ? but i'm lovely.

if you're planning that far ahead might be worth switching insurance companies now? only lose a few months then as opposed to august. Or have a parent insure the cab with you as a named until the current policy is up?
-
mum n dad both have one car each (obv dad is lookin for another van.. but he will have his own business policy!)
i renew in december... im halfway there, guess i really gotta wait and 3 yrs no caims will help!!!
-
I'd wait... as you said you havent even got the payout yet... and atleast if you know its gonna be december before u can insure it that'll give you plenty of time between payout and the day you can insure so you wont get over-eager to buy and can shop around and find a cab you really like. :)
-
They obvioulsy see you as a 'high risk' driver !
-
high risk.. yeah high risk of loking good!!!
-
the high risk is not you ! it's of other blokes gorping at you with their eyes off the road as you speed on by !
-
hell yeah!
-
At Least you found out before hand
Id bought my GTi before insurance co said no not till your 30.
Lost 1 yrs no claims and because i ended my policy after 9 months cover had to pay the rest of the premium then they didnt cancel policy and wouldnt honour the no claims when my new insurance co checked out from last years renewal.
-
least i can get money and look for one, and be ready to insure with another company in december/jan! :) cos i can get insurance, just not with this company!
-
hmmm, one upside is it's the damn cheap time of year to be buying a cab!
-
You're not the first to say that... and i guess not! i'd always get a good deal anyway...
also depending on what i get offered insurance isn't much more on a clipper than it is on sportline or rivage?!!?!?
woooooohhooooooo!
-
^i spy jv's for sale..
Dinx
-
nice work dinx :lipsrsealed:
-
no probs hunny..
Dinx
-
Jv - you better have a word with priviledge insurance and get them to give me enough for cab and insurance!! lol team work eh?
I'll have a cab ... just have to be patient... (she says?!)
i'm keeping my options open at the time being!!
-
good look han
the only other thing you could do is get secondary insurance ie keep the insurance on the driver and get the insurance for the cab off someone else the only thing is paying two lots of insurance it is possible though
worth a try
-
oh han thats rubbish! gutted for ya! gettin this cab is certainly bein dragged out as long as it can but you will be so smug when you DO eventually get it!
-
and i found this nice red one the other day pity its a auto though

You could always keep your original policy till Dec to make sure you don't lose out on that, but buy yourself a Cab and then insure it as a classic with restricted low annual mileage which should cost less.
Have you looked at getting a lower powered non-GTI cab ?
They did make them with 1.4/1.5/1.6 and 1.8 carb engines. That way you could buy one with less power, but cheaper to insure, then you could either work on the performance later when insurance is cheaper or change to a GTI Cab later.
-
yeah ive looked at everything, but if they pay out what i think they will im going whole hog, plus 6 months emergency tax rebate is due too!
If i'm gettin a cab im doin it properly! gues the wait will be worth it! :smug: :smug:
