think am gonna be booking car in for cruise control fitting, its £250 all in vat and parts what do u think, am not that technically minded to follow the guide.....
-
Ive heard parts cost under £70 from vw, you really wanna be payin that much!?!?!?! :undecided:
-
even less than £70 from Eurocar parts - think I got quoted under £50
-
cost depends on the car, it isn't £70 if your car is non-dbw.
-
that was the price fully fitted, the part itself costs 67.38 i need some one to fit the bloody thing
-
im not mechanically minded either, but for the sake of £180 odd i'd damn sure give it a try!!!
-
At least read the guide at the top of the mk4 section and then make a decision as it doesnt sound too bad.
-
180 inc fitting vat parts and gurantee from otley vw dealership cant be bad
-
I can see why your tempted to get VW to fit it, I read the guide and there are a few things that I would not be confident in doing, playing with the airbag sounds a bit scary too lol.
At least with VW there is comeback if anything goes wrong, if you DIY it's all down to you - I might get VW to fit it on mine if I keep it :)
I just checked out the Cruise control fitting guide thread, seems someone is having some troubles going the DIY route which makes me think that I'll def get VW to do it, it's just the lesser of 2 evils for me, I'd rather pay and get it done properly than spend a weekend getting annoyed with stuck bolts and quirky electrics,

rustyte: thats precisely why i dont want to mess with it, i got a price 180 thats inclusive of the kit which is £63.87 that means its roughly 120 fitted with warranty and labour thats gotto be a great deal.
the problem with the guide is that its only a guide if u cock summot up there isnt a answer for it, and most are not that technically minded, i had a mate who had his arm blown off tempering with a airbag too, so i wudnt personally mess with em, considering vdub charge 84 quid an hour i think 180 is a crackign price, and atleast there peace of mind if the thing goes wrong,
just as a query does the cruise control replace the indicator stalk?
-
yeah - you'll get a new stalk with the cruise controls on it
-
how do u i use the cruise then,
do i get to a speed and press set and then what does the on off thing do?
-
I was using cruise control on a hire car (with auto box) in Florida, stopped at a toll then pressed 'resume' thinking it would pick up pace back to 55/60mph. Instead the car decided to use maximum acceleration and took off from the toll booth at a hell of a rate - these big yank tanks can move when they want to
