Title: Whats a 1.8t 3 door worth?
Post by: Nickyb on 12 April 2006, 13:32
Hi there

Thinking of changing from my mk3 16v to a mk4 1.8t GTI.
What are these cars worth in average milage, I want a 3 door, I know about the aniverseries but what about the normal GTI's such as the 150bhp and the 180bhp?

How can you tell what bhp they are just from looking at them?
Do they all have Recaro seats, etc.

Thanks

look in the manual or find the sticker in the boot.

150bhp = 110 kW
180bhp = 132 kW

The price will depend on what year of Golf you want - have a look at autotrader - www.autotrader.co.uk this will give you a good idea.

Starting from £3500 for a cat d write off or a complete munter with high miles and upto £13000 for an anni or R32 kitted one. I think they gained a 6speed box along the way somewhere and the 180bhp models started around 52 plates (i think). Im sure all early ones were fitted with recaros but might have changed later on to sport seats and recaro annis in the annis. There are so many out there make sure you spend a bit more and get one thats been well looked after and in the colour you want.

5k should get you a nice 2000/2001 1.8t with less than 80K

Got my 1.8t a month ago, cost £8,400  it's in a very good condition, black with no scratches, alloys in mint condition (no scratches/curbing) Recaro interior, 29,000 miles.

it was the cheapest golf I found with those sort of miles.
