got me solid front mount fitted (thx joe) and the new ashley exhaust has finaly arrived for me to fit, whilst im at it im also fitting a new rear mount, and refitting my  branch and doing the rest of my polybushes and then getting a mot.

anyone here got a ashley zorst for the 16v gti??? any opinoins, good or bad?

secondly, me and my mate are gonna change his 8v gti mk2 lump over on friday.its the digifant unit ,  im gonna take the front bumper slam panel etc out. any easy tips. this need to be in and out in a day. we are gonna change the gearbox casing over once its out of the car as the new engine still has the clutch and flywheel attached.

as i said any tips or hints would be excellent.

taking a digifant out is easy. like you say remove the front end, unbolt the drive shafts, unplug things, unplumb hoses, undo downpipe/manifold etc the manifold bolts are probably the worst thing you'll have to deal with. other than that do-able in a day, oh and the driveshafts are spline not allen key!!

cheers joe, ill remember that, were gonna time ourself's , i reckon old lump out and new one in within 5 hours??  anyone care to take another guess.

Took em 9 hours to get mine out because after 16 years the bolts had siezed or rusted. Best leave yourself plenty of time incase you come accross any compleciations dude.

i took one out a golf we were breaking in about 2 hours? but then i wasn't taking too much care and was rushing it. the exhaust was cut with oxy acetalene. easy! :P

Time doesn't really matter if you are doing it all yourself.
Don't rush it, thats when things won't last.
