Having only brought my Mk4 gti t 2-3 months ago and the service book being 17 months behind i decided to give it a full service at the local VW specialists.
Total cost for labour and parts ?156.00 :)
Not bad for a car thats suppose to expensive to run according to other blinkered car users i.e ford drivers ::)
( "get all my parts from the scrappy " )
Though i do need my cam belt replacing .

not a bad price burnsy, ive been told my 80,000 service on my 18. 20v non turbo is gonna be around ?280 i cant justify this money and as an engineer am going to do on my own as i do on my mk2, sod the service history!!!, the amount i save over the years will cover the amount i lose if i decided to trade in!! lol ;D and i wont be sellin any way!! as im trying to get a balck 3dr of each model!!

that ?156 price sounds pretty damn good, but i have no idea where my nearest dealer or rather a vw specialist is, i've got 600miles to go before i need my 40,000check! :-[

For your information my car was serviced at the lion garage here in Leicester :)
They specialise in VW's as you can tell by the camper vans ,beetles and golfs outside :)
-
considering you had it serviced after so many miles has it made a difference to the drive and the way the car sounds after the service.

Dunno m8 only had it done yesterday and not really been out in it
Ill let ya know :)

When I decided to buy a new MK4 I though it was going to cost me a fortune to keep the service history but when I asked they said the first one would cost about 70 pounds( with average miles) the next would be about 80-100 pounds and the third would go back to about 70 pounds. Bargain if you ask me!!

who did you ask? a local dealer of any old garage? :-\
