Title: Switching on auto door locking??
Post by: ChrisG on 10 April 2006, 11:00
Hi all,

First post here... I picked up my new GTi on Saturday, first impressions very good!

One question someone on here might manage to answer... I want to swtich on the auto door locking function (where the doors lock at speeds of above 15mph). The owners manual refers to accessing the menus but that only seems to be on cars equiped with the Navgation pack which I don't have.

Is there any way to enable this function on a car without navigation?

Chris

Hi Chris,

I just found this option at the weekend by accident. It is available via the multi function display.
If you press and hold either of the up / down buttons on the wiper stalk, you will be able to navigate through the MF options (within the MF display- up/down and the OK/ Reset button on the bottom of the stalk).
The option you are after is within the Set Up / Convenience Menu / Door Open.
This in turn has 3 options 'Auto Lock' - locks doors above 15mph / 'Unlock' - unlocks doors when key is removed from ignition and 'Single Door' - not sure what this does - not tried it yet.
Have to admit I have the Navigation but like yourself not sure why this would affect this option!
Hope this helps

The menu you talk about is only available with the highline computer which is standard with navigation.  :nerd:

I could be wrong on this one but i THINK that the dealer can code auto locking in using the diagnostics machine. Worth asking

Your dealer can sort it for you....

We had the same issue on the Audi and we just popped back to the dealer and got it programmed, it costs nothing and took 15 mins tops....  I don't see the Golf being any different....

SINGLE MODE - works like this....
you click unlock on your key once - just the drivers door opens
you double click it and all doors (and boot)

Matt555,

do your doors unlock when you switch off the ignition?
