Post by: x5pea on 09 April 2006, 20:27
Has anyone completed this conversion??

Looking for some hints and tips on performing the conversion on my current project car

I've not done nowt like that, have you had a chance to measure the T(i)T dash? Cos I'd imagine that'd be one hell of a nightmare and might look a bit odd (just my opinion). I do like the mk4 polo dash in a mk1 tho, looks bang up to date and fits!

I've seen it done on several mk2's & the mk2 dash goes into a mk1 pretty easy (if not direct fit) so it should definately be possible.

:undecided: I'm not sure if it would work with the mk1 though, it may be a bit too modern for such a classic car - be nice to see it when your finished

I've only ever seen one mk1 with an Audi TT dash into it and I think it was covered in PVW last year (2005) silver mk1 - had complete Audi TT engine conversion, power steering etc installed too - looks the business, but was a nightmare to install quoted by the owner. Worth the pain I think...

I prefer old skool mk1 dash myself or a BMW 3 series Dash or Corrado Dash for a mk1.
