Title: annoying engine churn

sometimes when i turn the car off the engine goes to stop and then kicks into over drive and makes a roar and then goes silent. it also vibrates the car when it does this.

its starting to worry me a bit.

anyone?  ???

My dad had a battered old escort which used to do this, so surely not a good sign!   :o

What car? probably advanced ignition timing.
