Title: Lumpy idle & Vacuum Problems?
Post by: Tornado on 08 April 2006, 11:49
Hi there
Car is a 8v Digi. It has a lumpy idle but it pulls hard so who cares! However, when idling up to a junction or similar the brake pedal can go hard and the brakes almost don't work(no servo?).  Am i right in thinking that the 2 are related and could be vacuum problem?
Thanks
Alan
Ps has anyone used SP Performance for a cylinder head? Believe they are in North of England.

Check the chunky vacuum pope between the inlet manifold and the brake servo, there are a ew blanking plugs and a vacuum pipe attached to it, check the pipe itself and the blanking plugs for cracks.

If that don't help then it looks like the servo may be on its way out, its a costly part though so ideally you want a good second hand part.

Do you really think that the Pontiff could be the source of these troubles?
