Title: How can i tell if the rack is knackered or pump?

I have been looking for an hour in the search section but cannot find the answer to my query, basically my 8 valve feels heavy as though it doesnt have power steering and is a little lumpy, then on the move seems fine, is this just the pump or thye rack or both? the belt is tight by the way and the tyres are fine.ok to add to this there is a wurring noise as though something is catching, like a wheel bearing, only i have changed the wheel bearing and now the npose still persists mainly on right turns, is this the steering rack? anyone?  Cheers  :smiley:
