Title: TT Wheels
Post by: miketheman2k on 27 November 2003, 16:02
Hi all,

Does anyone have any pics of 17" Audi TT wheels on a Mk3 golf - would they look dumb without lowering it?

Cheers!

Mike

They look good in that they really suit the mk3 shape and they are 17's but the front looks like some sort of 4x4 if you leave the suspension as standard.

This is a pic of my car with TT 17's before i had it lowered. Don't look to bad in this pic but it was like a tractor at the back. So sweet now it is lowered. I will take some more recent pics when we get some decent weather. I now have the Koni Eibach setup after a visit to AMD. Tis awesome - transforms the car, definately recommended!

Hi all,

I tried the 17" TT wheels from my friends car and found out that...

1) The cars VR6 suspension is so soft that although they look sweet and fill the arches beautifully when it is just sitting there, as soon as there is any weight on the rear of the car, the arches touch tyres...yikes! Would definitely need stiffer suspension. I thought it would look 4x4 style, not too low  :o

2) One of my rear axles has obviously been pushed forward slightly in a previous accident which meant that the gap at the front of the arch was about 1cm and the rear was about 3-4cm - never even noticed this before, but with the big wheels it was a lot more obvious

I reckon it would cost me too much to fix the axle problem, get stiffer suspension, buy the wheels and have it all aligned...so I'm sticking with the 15's...until I buy an R32.  ;)

Cheers!

Mike
