I am just writing (typing) up the last of this first assignment and am running out of tuning ideas you can do to a mk2 valver engine.
List anything you can come up with please... so far i have, cam change, air filter, exhaust, over boring, dry sumps, turbo/superchargers, need a few more please.... oh and i might need you to just point me in the right direction with some stuff
-
water injection, nos, head porting/polishing, forged pistons (and strengthening bottom end) and of course, the mighty dump valve
-
Warm up regulator mod. Different size intake manifolds. Stainless 4 branch exhaust manifolds.
-
ooh, fully mapable ecu like a megasquirt
-
Lighten and ballanced bottom end. Larger valves
-
yeah got the exhaust parts all done and dusted, done porting and polishing in over boring, mappable ECU is a goodun, and WUR mod too   keep em coming.
-
2 Litre bottom end conversion
-
you can also shim the metering head for greater fueling.
-
cant do owt without putting all this power down properly....
triple plate clutch and lightened/balanced flywheel
chargecooler for the forced induction
ah, paint the block, red always makes things faster
-
also, bigger injectors
-
oh aye, but we ain't worried about the power down at the mo, just gotta say what and how it can be done. Drivetrain and transmission etc do not come into it.
-
Throttle bodies, weber 40's, blue neons
-
weber 40s, tbs and forced induction! Now that'd be plain crazy!
-
Blueprint the engine....
-
Cheers lads, 27 pages on tuning and gas turbine engines, not too shabby for 8 hours work straight.
Only one more to go....
-
Am i too late? Lightened fly wheel
-
fuel pump regulator upgrade??
-
live mapping
-
^^ you would be talking about the megasquirt then
aye i handed it in at about 1pm, now i am buzzing cos i just f**ked off all the otherwork i had to do, and am now a free agent for easter. I f**kings loves it.

i dunno i just know that you can get cossies live mapped so thought itd be the same for golfs lol
they give really good power gains and torque gains though  esp on higher bhp engines
-
Aye megasquirt is a live map, you can program your ECU to suit your driving etc, althought its more work than you would think, fuel rails, pumps, injectors etc all have to be changed too bit of a ballache tbh

The cheapest and most cost effective way to make any car much faster is to take a few lessons in driving properly and I'm not talking 3 point turns. Do a trackday that offers instruction and take it. Some of the quickest cars out there are performance wise the slowest but very very well pedaled.
Not everything you learn can be used on the road but a lot can.
And another cheapy? Empty the boot of all that cr*p!

That is true, and sound advice, Barkstar.
But Slick just wanted to know power mods that could theoretically be put on a 16v ke engine.
-
Yes I kind of realised I was going a little off thread but I was being sort of tongue in cheek, you've only got to watch a few trackdays to realise that all the boost, bytes and bigger bores ain't worth nowt if you thruppenny bit every corner. Always wondered how many Evo and Impeza drivers go home from a trackday with their manhood several times smaller than when they arrived having been whupped by a shopping trolley

I do love it when they get themselves embarassed by old golfs or 205s
Suspension/braking upgrades + driver upgrades  can give so much of a better effect than upping bhp
-
evo roof spoiler, spinners, lexus lights. 50bhp gain at least
-
Wow, a spoiler like that makes the car look like its going at 200mph, even at standstill
*Please note, this is a virtual mod, and will never be physically on this car...although i may send it to Lax Flower as this would be right up their street...

isnt leaning forward over the steering wheel with a cap on good for 20 brake?
-
roller barrels
-
Right arm out window (with Sovs on each finger), then with cap and leaning over wheel is good for 20bhp
-
Ahh so is winding the seatback down so far you're looking through the gap between the wheel rim and the top of the dash just like soooo last year? And there was me thinking it cut down on drag!
