Title: Oil light flashing on when slowing down.
Post by: Harvemk2 on 06 April 2006, 23:10
Anyone know a reason for my 1.8 16v oil light flashing on when i slow down? it seems like when im changing down through the gears to slow down the oil light just flashes on quickly then off again it doesnt stay on just flashes once or twice then off again. is it a problem with pressure or something? :undecided:

it is more than likely the oil pickup pipe being full of sh!t, and dropping the pressure for a few secs. Saying that it could just be a iffy sensor, or (which you don't want) the pump itself could be shafted. One of those 3, take your pick.  :undecided:

start with the cheap things (sensors) then work your way up to dropping the sump and replacing the fuel pump :)

If you're slowing down, perhaps the level is low or the baffle has dropped of the end of the pickup?
