Title: air bag light stays on

I have an 96 p plate gti  and the air bag light is staying on,i also noticed twice recently when i tried to start the car it would not start first time and after starting second time the digital clock and trip had reset to zero as if there was a short in the power anybody have any ideas

ello and welcome mate....

You could have a duff battery. Or a short in the starter motor (causing it to flat the battery). Or an engine earth strap loose / missing...

1st thing I'd do is get a battery place to test your battery.
Next, look for the earth strap.
After that, take it to someone who can read the diagnostic codes to sort your airbag light out.....  :smiley:

thanks for the quick reply i have had the codes read and they say voltage too high and voltage too low which means there is some problem in the voltage supply.

That would defo cause the light to stay on.   As for the clock and trip etc, mine was doing this a while back and i found that someone had put the wrong rating fuse in(too low amp-age and voltage rating and. They all run on the same circuit. I changed the fuse and all is now fine.

Its fuse number 21, 15 amp.
