Installed one of these last night (you may have seen my help post!) :)
Has anyone else got one of these? if so are you impressed?
I am not for the following reasons:
1/ Idle was lumpy
2/Did NOTHING for preformance
3/Noise was no different.
Most importantly, after fitting correctly, the cone filter fell off!
I used the jubilee clip (not too tight) as the instructions said.
The thing nearly ended up in between the cambelt and fan belt!
Put it back on and tightened only for the same thing to happen a few miles later!
Has anyone else had similar issues?
Eurocarparts said i am unlikely to get a refund as (the guy on the phone has one, and his "had never done that", he said I had prob fitted it wrong (i hadnt!). I have to go in tomorrow and see the manager about a refund :( I dont want to chance another one as without the filter on, the AFM and the whole engine would be at risk of damage.

at it falling off? hell yes I am.
i heard mixed opinions about performance, so thats no shock
but for it to fall off and endanger my pride and joy, thats too far! :angry:

ive fitted 57i on mk3 8v, no problems with it slipping though, the cone is very loose so you do need to tighten jubilee clip quite a bit. quite suprised your engine doesnt roar alittle more than norm as mine sounds great. with regards for performance dont expect much its more of a open breather for your engine, works better with a non standard exhaust, that way more air in and faster exit can help with a few bhp

bet you get the over fueling problem and the juddering cold start from this kit you will need to have the car tuned to match this kit as it will present a problem later and also watch the oil breather pipe as it likes to jump out of the filter housing make sure you secure it all nice and tight

i had 2 on my old 2 8vs i had they just seemed to use a lot more fuel
with very little differance in power ,i think this is why you find a lot
of second hand ones on ebay because people find there car runs
better on original airfilter mine did anyway ,if you read up on other
forums most people say fit the k&n panel filter in original air box but
ive not tryed this ,

I've fitted the K&N panel filter. Makes a teeny tiny difference. Worth it, but not for £50!!!!!! :shocked:

well mine has now been returned to eurocarparts in exchange for some eibach kit. They were very nice about swapping the items over after a little discussion ;)
I think that mine actually runs better with the bogo airbox. I was going to do the drilling job but obviously this is irreversible without buying a new replacement. I have heard (seen) a chap on here mention running an intake pipe from the front of the standard air box to the front lower grill, think you need to widen the original air intake from 10p size to bigger. This sounds like an ok option due to more air and cooler air. any opinions on this?
