Title: Spark Plugs for 91 8v Digi
Post by: DaveP on 05 April 2006, 10:11
Hi Guys,

Sorry for what seems like a load of questions, but I have tried the search facility and didn't manage to find anything relevant.

Having just acquired my GTI, I am keen to give her a full service - I would be looking to change the plugs and probably HT leads too.  Can anyone recommend me the most appropriate make/model of plugs and leads?

Thanks,

I've always used Bosch plugs in the past (as they tend to supply manufacturers too).  Just normal single electrode ones do the job, I've never been able to tell the difference with twin/triple/quad electrode plugs.  Your local Halfords or motor factors should be able to sort you out.

Try http://www.vwspares.co.uk they supply beru parts who are an OEM manufaturer.

You wont notice any difference with 3 electrode plugs, all they offer is a longer service life.  There is only ever 1 spark between the shortest electrode gap, as the electrodes wear the spark switches to the next shortest gap :)

to be honest I always goto the main dealer for plugs etc they use ngk in the new vw's but bosch were the original fitment int he digi.. leads go original equipment,  GSF are a good source for the supply of servicing parts but some aftermarket bits ive had from there have let me down hence I go main stealer also.
