Title: strange noise
Post by: Leejaydoob on 26 November 2003, 23:38
just managed to get a drive in my mk2
when acclerating i was getting a loud clunking noise and a kind of clicking noise coming from front driver side

on inspection found k+n air intake had worked loose and was hitting bonnet on accleration but the clicking noise is still there

if i push down on suspension there is a noise as suspension settles but only on the drivers side

any ideas anyone?

CV joint? does it go 'click, click, click'?

no not a cv joint noise, more suspension noise
the car appears to wander a little when driving as well

id go also with the top mount being knackered

does it only happen when you set off?

if u get it when u start the car also it'll be a knackered engine mount

Wishbone bushes probably. Also check suspension balljoint, top mounts and wheel bearings.
