Title: mk3 newbie
Post by: Jungle_Don on 03 April 2006, 01:36
i realy love the mk3 and iv been looking at mk3 golfs 1.6s  for insurance reasons iv heard they only have 75bhp this is low for a 1.6 have they got decent tourque for a 1.6 im not after it for lots of power just not something that its realy slow with a bit of poke i will put an air filter and exhaust drive it for a year till my insurace gose down, mean time sort the body and interior out then drop another engine in if i decide to keep it...

couple of questions

do all mk3 golfs have the same bumpers i mean like the gti vr6 are they the same as base model bumpers but with a gti vr6 lip spolier on the bottom same as the rear bumpers?

i basicaly want to keep it simple not realy into the boyracer bodykits i want to have the typical dub style bip lip spolilers and slam it on some 8"wide euro style rims

any info will be much apricaated

The 1.6 won't be a quick beast unfortunately.

Bumpers, aside from different paint configurations (fully painted, fully plastic, part paint part plastic) are the same across all the models.

And a simple lowering/wide wheels works really well on the mk3

fitting a deeper vr6/early gti chin spoiler is a clip off/on affair. @£25 from ECP
