The water tempreture warning light keeps flashing on, but the temp gauge sits dead in the middle?
The warning light flashes on when the mfa reads about 124.
any ideas?
just confused that the guage doesnt go into the red?
??? ???
-
Is the coolant boiling up? , if not then just an electrical fault.
-
what temp is too much, is 124 on the mfa ok, or should i relly on the mechanical guage?
-
The mfa shows oil temp, the dial shows coolant temp. 124 does sound quite high for oil. Does it always go up that high?
-
i thought that the light flashes on the water temp gauge when the coolant level is too low. It may be worth checking your level when the car has cooled down one morning.
-
Yep, it also comes on when the temp hits the top.
-
but the guage reads ok?
-
Doh! the MFA shows the oil temp not the water temp.
still no idea why the light flashes.
-
Tried topping up the levels, checking for leaks?
-
i'll try topping it up. :)
-
wat light comes on again?
-
topped it up and it still flashes on and off, after about 7 miles?
its the water coolant light next to the battery light.
really starting to annoy me know! :(
-
Mine was doing this, I had to overfill the coolant to stop it flashing. I think I filled it until the expansion tank was about half full
-
Check the warning switch on the coolant tank with a multimeter.
-
ok, could be corroded couldn't it?
-
Yep , try changing the tank over if you can get a cheap one, or just test the switch for resistance.
-
for the mean time do you think i should just go by the guage and ignore the light?
-
If the coolant isn't boiling up then i wouldn't worry.
-
Yep , try changing the tank over if you can get a cheap one, or just test the switch for resistance.
an even easier answer and one you seem to have failed to try is to remove the sender wire from the coolant expansion tank and just bridge the terminals with wire or a paperclip.
does the light still flash?
-
sorry bit thick, bridge them on the plug, and the light should come on and stay on?
-
Im thinking the light should turn off when you try that trick?
If the light does stay on or off by trying that trick then the circuit is okay.
