Title: Engine Insulation query

I own a mk2 gti 16v 1990 model, and going to give the engine bay a good clean this w/end  :smiley:, but have noticed i have no insulation on the underside of the bonnet, is this normal for this model?

Mine's an August 1990 and has insulation under the bonnet, my 87 model did not.  :smiley:
