Title: tints or no tints, that is the question
Post by: golfpro on 31 March 2006, 13:52
ok i know this could have been put in the mk3 or the cosmetic matters section and no doubt it will end up moved there but i thought more people would see it here.

My black mk3 currently has recieved a few unsavoury 'kev car/chavy' comments which is always upsetting. ITS BLOODY NOT - RIGHT!

anyway (deep breaths) i always ask people what makes it look chavy and the first thing that gets picked on near every time is the tinted or 'blacked out' windown. now this wasnt my doing, they were there when i got it, but im really tempted to get shot of them.

So what are your thoughts? do you like or do they make it look sh!te? If its time to go, how the hell can i do it?

thanks all.

east rip them off, and get some intensive glass cutter on them, along with some harsh washing up liquid.

i think its the rims

a set of fat euro wheels would completly change the whole look of the car (still looks really clean now though)

A set of fat 16's with a stretch would complement the look and the windows will look good then

My 2p woth though

i think you guys are right. again the drums and the wheels are not things iv had a choice in. Id love to change the wheels but around here with the roads as they are anything stretched would destroy the rims. oh f**k it, maybe il hav a look around. so what do you all suggest? im open to opinions. thought in the past about something deep rimmed with black centers but i dont want to overshoot the pocket too much, especially after its just cost me £450 from the garage.

wheels need looking into. i cant talk :undecided:

light smoked tints suit any car so get those maybe?. but get the whole lot tinted than just the rears
end of the day its your choice

the fronts are semi tinted and the rears are limo black. problem im findin myself in is il end up spendin a bucket load on it after already doin that to make it work. Id love to get some new rims but think i need a HARDCOR3 style bargain if im goin to. plus if i remove the tints i certainly wont be replacin them for a while. id change it if i hadnt just repaired it and paid for a very cheaps years insurance.come on ppl, any suggestions on possible wheels? iv had a little look on flee bay but nothin jumps out unless im payin the thick end of a grand!

my borbet's and tyres only set me back £500, and they'd look the tits!

my problems with the borbets is there is another mk3 with them on around here. maybe if they did have black centres i would get away with it. how much would i be lookin to get them painted? Iv considered the borbet route before but not carried it through. theyre just so popular.

Jeez that pic makes my car look crap  The bits of missing and not fitted properly trim are now sorted and the black magic paint now shines like fook thanks to maguires quick clay and turtle wax extreme

But i agree with others about the red drums and calipers im afraid

dont know about ronals dom. havin to drop it more wasnt really the plan.

If anyone knows what ET my wheels should be it would be a huge help so i know what i can/cant squeeze on there. the hunt is on.
