Title: Wheel refurbishment

Any recommendations for places that do alloy wheel refurbishment.  I'm in Manchester, somewhere local would be ideal.

Do it yourself.
If you want em mint' then get em sand blasted,and simply prime,paint and laquar the blighters.
If they arent in that bad you can get a ;dremil' mini sander on em..

I've got to disagree on that one. If you want them to look good and last get them done properly. Make sure they are stripped back to a bare metal finish and are painted with powder coat, the thickness of paint and durability is not something you are going to be able to match yourself in a wet paint. I don't know of anyone in the Manchester area, and I'm a long way from you, but as a guide I'd only charge you ?20.50 a wheel for this on a 15" rim.

I have to agree here. I refurbed a set my self a few years back. no matter what I did the paint kept craking and flaking and falling off. I tried putting a flex agent into the paint before spraying and it still flaked off within a month. Once I had them powdercoated I never had another problem with them.

I didnt think you could sand blast alloy wheels as this would take surface metal away, and you only do it on metal wheels.

Alloy wheels are normally acid tank dipped to remove old paint and then put on a lathe with a diamond tip to repair any kerbing marks.

I have a mercedes coachworks next door to where I work and they use a company called spit and polish.

theres a place in morley (near leeds) just off the m62 that charges about ?40 a wheel inc. refit and balance of tyre there not the cheapest but they do a top job I'll dig the number out if your interested m8?

If anybody is in kent, i would'nt recommend going to a place called le$!*&s.
unless of course you want your pirelli alloys touched up with black marker pen!
